In math we made a human number line! 1-10

We made a graph about what our favorite kind of  wood was!  What do we notice??

We also worked with our ten frames!

We showed the number 9!

We got to sand wood today to change its shape!!

We were being scientists and figured out what was the best way to use the sandpaper!

Look at all that sawdust falling off!

Rub rub rub!!

Of course we made an entry in our science journal!

How can you change the shape of wood?

We can use sandpaper!

We are being great scientists!!

Today was the best day ever!  We went to art.  I played at blocks during play time.  We built a haunted house at the blocks.  We made a graph about our favorite kind of wood.  We labeled lots of things that were made of wood in the room.  We went outside for recess.  For daily 5 I went to Miss Dunlap and I went to read to self.  We got to scrape sandpaper on wood for science.  My wood was changing.  I will see you tomorrow!!

I had a fun day being the calendar helper. It was a fun time doing the sandpaper.

I think it is so great you have an awesome teacher like Mrs. Haas to think of such fun things to do with you guys! Sanding wood sounds like fun! Did it get nice and smooth as you changed the shape of it? I also love that you are learning about all different wood from different trees! Did you know some types of wood feel very heavy while others feel very light? Wood can even be different colors! We have lots of Black Walnut trees by our house, and their wood can sometimes look a little purple after it is cut and dried. Strange, but beautiful! Have a fun Friday! ~Rebecca (Mary's mom)
